Reader's comments:
"LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF THE MASTERS OF THE FAR
EAST" caused me to search into the deeper realities and
meaning of Life. After reading these books, I realized that I
was living in the mundane world of religious doctrine and
dogma. I was given what I wanted to hear, not what I should be
hearing. In 1966 I left the world of organized religion and I
will never return to that again. I was a dedicated person to
the church and the bible studies.
I have read the Life and Teachings six times, not
just reading, but studying. What made me think that this is a
truth? There is no scientific evidence to back this up? There
is no mention of these things in the Wall Street Journal or in
the New York Times? No matter where I looked none of these
things were mentioned. Could it be a something within us that
intuitively draws a searching person? The skeptics, critics,
"unbeliever," that I knew did not stop my spiritual resolve
and I persevered. For the first time was I thinking for
myself.
In 1991 a book called
"The Kybalion" and "Divine
Pymande" came into my life and was a major puzzle in
resolving the mystery of Life that revealed the laws and
principles that enabled the Masters of the Himalayas to do the
things they were able to do. My path in Life was forever
changed because of the greater awareness that gave me mental
poise and a firm direction in Life. For the first time was I
able to live in the now and not be swayed by misinformation,
skepticism, or even the malicious conduct of other people. I
am not affected by political opinion. I can read and
understand between the lines. Yet, I am able to maintain a
flexible mind and not have to defend my opinions. My past was
left to history and I was looking forward to the new teachings
of Spirit. I am experiencing true freedom for the first time.
Why am I writing all this? It is not in the
reading of books that a person will benefit, but what a person
will do with it. Some people will read and life goes on in the
usual manner, while others will take it to their heart and
increase their Spiritual Knowledge and acquire true freedom
and they experience true Spiritual development. They become
changed persons. To the skeptic and "defender of opinions,"
Life will always be a mystery and they will always be stuck in
their mundane world of materialism as a self made person and
continue the struggle in their unawareness.
Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East will give
a person a reason to look into the greater realms of reality
and if they will but "look," the answers will be surprising
and refreshing. Scientific evidence and verification of these
things is not possible at the moment because it has not
completely unfolded in their field of awareness. However,
science has made tremendous progress in revealing the
structure of the Universe, which to the Spiritual aware person
indicates that our "material" world as we are able to perceive
it, is not as "material" as we think it is. In this view, we
can understand why the Masters of the Himalayas travel
effortlessly through the "invisible." They used a higher LAW
that that for the most part escapes the collective race
consciousness.... by J. R. Seydel

|
From the Inside Flap
As a striving entrepreneur, Shannon Duncan had
always thought that money and success would bring him
happiness. But when he retired a multimillionaire before the
age of thirty and could buy almost any possession or
experience he wanted, he realized that the source of happiness
was definitely elsewhere. Through a series of realizations,
brought about through self-exploration and study, Duncan
realized that what he was really searching for was to feel
good about himself, and thus feel safe and peaceful in the
world. Once he gained the opportunity to realize what wouldn't
bring him peace, he began to understand that peace was always
within him, underneath the turmoil, if only he would surrender
enough to see it.
Duncan’s book, Present Moment Awareness,
has already become a self-published word-of-mouth phenomenon,
garnering praise for its practical, down-to-earth advice for
living in the present. Filled with easy, accessible anecdotes
and exercises, Present Moment Awareness shows
readers how they can drop their emotional baggage, calm their
worries about the future, and start enjoying the peace and
happiness that can only be found in the present moment.
Through a series of simple but enlightening concepts, Duncan
shows how we can discover the true causes of our stress and
discontent, transform our emotions from rulers into advisors,
and start enjoying our lives, right here and now.

Maat Revealed, Philosophy of Justice in Ancient Egypt
by Anna MANCINI, Ph. D
Published in November, 2004
(also available as e-book (Adobe Reader) )
|
|
Unlike ancient Rome, Egypt did not
transmit any legal system to us, but rather an idea of justice
our modern minds can hardly understand. In the ancient
Egyptian world, almost all the texts and inscriptions speak of
justice. All the texts of wisdom teach that one has to conform
to Maat, an obscure and omnipresent concept that Egyptologists
have translated into the expression "Goddess of Truth and
Justice".
Egyptian justice is so different from ours that Egyptologists
and historians of religions believe they have not yet fully
understood its meaning. They regret this fact because
understanding Maat would be a gateway to a deeper
understanding of the ancient Egyptian world. As for lawyers,
they have limited themselves to the Greco-Roman sources on the
philosophy of Justice and the discoveries of Egyptologists in
this philosophical field remain thoroughly ignored. Thanks to
her experience in ancient history of law and her ability to
understand ancient symbols, the author provides Egyptology
with the missing pieces that were needed to form a coherent
image of Maat. Once revealed, Maat sheds a new and unexpected
light on the whole of Egyptian civilization. As a bridge
between traditionally separate fields of academic research,
this book is a useful and groundbreaking contribution to
Egyptology, the history of religions and the modern philosophy
of law. |

Farenheit 451
by Ray Bradbury
|
|
Bradbury's novel details the eternal
war between censorship and freedom of thought and continues to
be relevant today more than ever. In Bradbury's future, books
are illegal and happily so--citizens are too busy watching
their wall-sized televisions and listening to their in-ear
"seashell" radios to care about the loss of good literature.

Ancient
Mysteries
by Peter James, Nick Thorpe
October 30, 2001
672 pages
|
|
There may be a wide gap between
uncritical belief and hard-line skepticism, but that doesn't
mean many writers have chosen to explore this territory. Now
science writer Peter James and archaeologist Dr. Nick Thorpe
have teamed up again to examine Ancient Mysteries, pledging
allegiance to no theory or theorist, free to explore any
explanation supported by the evidence. As often happens, they
must finally throw up their hands in confusion, but getting
there is half the fun.
Did King Arthur really exist? Who was Robin Hood? How did the
enormous stone heads of Easter Island find their way to their
resting places? Why did the Mayans disappear? These are some
of the 37 big questions tackled by James and Thorpe in nearly
700 pages. A few of their selections may seem curious when
compared to the puzzles that have gripped us for centuries,
but overall their penetrating analyses of legend and
archaeological data are fascinating and engagingly written.
For those who can tolerate a bit of uncertainty in their
reading, Ancient Mysteries will be a profoundly satisfying
look into the fuzzy boundaries of our knowledge. --Rob
Lightner--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable
edition of this title.
Product Description:
What was the Minotaur? Did a Welsh prince discover America?
Did Robin Hood really exist? How does the Star of Bethlehem
fit into the science of astronomy? Is the Vinland Map a fake?
Can archaeologists use spirit messages to guide their work?
For centuries, philosophers,
scientists, and charlatans have attempted to decipher the
baffling mysteries of our past, from the Stonehenge to the
lost continent of Atlantis. Today, however, DNA testing,
radiocarbon dating, and other cutting-edge investigative
tools, together with a healthy dose of common sense, are
guiding us closer to the truth.
Peter James and Nick Thorpe, the
professional historian and archaeologist team who created the
acclaimed Ancient Inventions, now tackle these age-old
conundrums, presenting the latest information from the
scientific community--and the most startling challenges to
traditional explanations of mysteries such as:
- The rise and fall of the Maya
- A lost cache of Dead Sea Scrolls
- The curse of Tutankhamun
- The devastation of Sodom and Gomorrah
- The Nazca Lines
These true mystery stories twist and
turn like a good whodunit, as James and Thorpe present the
evidence for and against the expert theories, shedding new
light on humankind's age-old struggle to make sense of the
past. The authors also make dramatic contributions of their
own to the fray, demonstrating persuasively that cataustrophic
events--including the collisions of comets with the Earth long
ago--could explain puzzles that have baffled experts for
centuries. Ancient Mysteries will entertain and enlighten,
delight the curious and inform the serious.--This text refers
to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. |

The Pyramids and Temples of Gizeh
by W.M. Flinders Petrie
|
|
Based on the author's work in Egypt
in the 1880s, this unusual volume addresses one of history's
greatest puzzles -how were the pyramids of Gizeh built? Before
Petrie undertook this study, the Great Pyramid was a byword
for paradox - something that was generally familiar, yet not
accurately known. No measurements or detailed examination had
been performed. Petrie set out to apply mathematical methods
to the study of the pyramids and surrounding temples, with the
objective of understanding the methods and abilities of the
ancient workers. The result, presented in this volume, is a
complete set of measurements of the pyramids, both inside and
outside. These provide the foundation for the rest of the
book, which deals with the architectural ideas of the pyramid
builders, the mechanical methods they used, and a comparison
of previous theories with the facts that Petrie had newly
established. |

The Mystery of Easter Island (Mystic Travellers Series)
by Katherine Routledge
|
|
The Mystery of Easter Island was originally
published in 1919, based upon the research of an English lady,
Katherine Routledge, who lived on the island in 1914-15. She
learned the Rapanui language and interviewed all the old
people she could find who still remembered the past. The more
we now know about the archaeology of Easter Island, the better
this material looks. Routledge did excavations, camped out all
over the island and accumulated vast quantities of research
material. A 'must read' for someone going to Easter Island.

Becoming Like God
by Michael Berg
September 9, 2004 |
|
Michael Berg, editor in
chief of Kabbalah Magazine, offers an easy-to-digest manual on
becoming like God. Drawing upon the traditional teachings of
the Kabbalah, Berg shows readers how to overcome the ego
nature, which the ancient texts name as the "desire to receive
for the self alone." Throughout the book, Berg (The Way) uses
the metaphor of imprisonment, claiming that most of us are
confined in a jail of pain, suffering and death. Our job is to
escape, which means conquering the evil prison guard (ego).
Berg's amazingly Buddhist-like teachings offer enticing
motivation for taking on this powerful opponent. Who wouldn't
want fight ego and become like God with an "infinite payload
of health, joy, and life" (which Berg claims is our
birthright)? The key to this jailbreak, according to Berg, is
to stop looking out for oneself, and starting looking out for
the needs of the collective. This book may not tell you
everything you want to know about accomplishing this new life
mission, but it is an inspiring primer. --Gail Hudson
Product Description:
In his continuing work to demystify and teach the
ancient, esoteric texts of Kabbalah, Michael Berg suggests
that the time is right for people to break free of "ego
nature" and achieve total joy and immortality: in other words,
to "become God." Advising ruthless honesty about human life -
its pain, suffering, and death - and then providing an escape
plan based on those truths, Berg uses the tools of Kabbalah -
such as the Zohar, the key text of the discipline - as well as
the collective energy of all the individuals sharing this path
to help form that critical mass that will allow everyone to
realize their true, joyous nature. Becoming God gives readers
the methodology to be applied at every moment to destroy ego,
begin transformative sharing, and create a path to realize
their true, godlike nature.

Conversations with God :
An Uncommon Dialogue (Book 1)
by Neale Donald Walsch |
|
Blasphemy! Heresy! Who does this man think he is,
claiming to speak directly to God?! Jesus did it, Muhammad did
it, the Jewish prophets did it, but none of their Gods had the
sardonic wit or raw verve of Prophet Walsch's God. Neale
Donald Walsch isn't claiming to be the Messiah of a new
religion, just a frustrated man who sat down one day with pen
in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote
his questions to God, he realized that God was answering
them... directly... through Walsch's pen. The result, far from
the apocalyptic predictions or cultic eccentricities you might
expect, turns out to be matter-fact, in-your-face wisdom on
how to get by in life while remaining true to yourself and
your spirituality.
